Overview
The Agassizi Cory Cat comes from the river tributaries of the Peru area, and is a peaceful bottom dwelling scavenger. The Agassizi has many black spots covering the body and a black, mask-like stripe covering the eyes.
The Agassizi Cory Cat requires a well planted aquarium with plenty of hiding places that provide relief from the light. A smooth sand or gravel substrate is needed because of the easily damaged barbels. They enjoy being in numbers, so a small school of six or more is ideal for these cats.
Breeding the Agassizi Cory Cat has not yet been accomplished in an aquarium and little is known about its breeding requirements.
The Agassizi Cory Cat is omnivorous and will require a well-balanced diet including dried, flake, frozen, and live foods. Feed a quality flake and pellet food as well as frozen brine and live worms.

My "Three Amigos" are so much fun - yes, each one has a name, too. With their little "masks of Zoro", I call them all boys. My Juli cory cats are all girls (to me) and the Albino cory cats are called girls. I raised some youngsters for my son, too, which are now happy as can be in his 95 gallon aquarium. While cory cats will pal around with cory cats of other varieties, I highly recommend at least three of these for your most enjoyment. One will play the leader and the others will follow. You can imagine how much fun it was when there were 5! I read that it is good to have one cory cat for each five gallons of water - which was a good excuse for me to buy even more. I now have about one surplus cory in both my 20 gallon and 75 gallon, so now they can take breaks from the clean-up duty. They do seem to have their own spaces which they clean - but gather together from time to time to visit with the other cory cats.
