Hailing from the turbulent rapids of the Congo River, the Synodontis Brichardi Catfish demonstrates specialized adaptations to fast flowing water including a hydrodynamic low-profile body and a “sucker” type mouth used to cling onto rocks. The Synodontis Brichardi Catfish is quite elegant in appearance featuring a simple yet elegant combination of a dark (almost black) espresso brown body coloration and stylish vertical stripes. The Synodontis Brichardi Catfish is a relatively peaceful fish but can demonstrate territorial behavior towards other Synodontis catfish. Avoid similar-looking species as well as larger, more aggressive tank mates. Instead house with medium to large peaceful fish for best compatibility.

The Synodontis Brichardi Catfish is an omnivore and should be offered sinking catfish pellets, spirulina pellets, algae wafers, thawed / frozen bloodworms, brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, plus a good quality flake food.
