Overview
The Neon Red Laser Corydoras Catfish is a boldly-colored variety of the popular Aeneus Corydoras Catfish. Its striking oxblood red body coloration, glowing with an iridescent sheen, is beautifully framed by gorgeous golden colored fins, giving this often ignored aquarium bottom dweller a showy presence in any freshwater community setup.
The Neon Red Laser Corydoras Catfish naturally occurs throughout much of South America from Columbia and Trinidad to central and southern areas such as Paraguay and Argentina. The Neon Red Laser Corydoras Catfish lives in schools of 20 to 30 fish in the wild where the catfish will inhabit slower moving waters.
An established aquarium of at least 30 gallons in size is recommended to properly house the Neon Red Laser Corydoras. A soft sandy substrate will also be appreciated. Avoid substrate with rough edges to prevent the sensitive barbels of the catfish from becoming irritated. Aquascape the aquarium with plants, smooth edged rocks and driftwood while leaving open spaces and areas for the catfish to swim. Neon Red Laser Corydoras are social fish that enjoy being in numbers, so a small school of six or more is ideal for these cats.
Neon Red Laser Corydoras Catfish are omnivorous and will require a well-balanced diet including quality flake food and pellets along with frozen/thawed blood worms, brine shrimp and mysis shrimp for adult specimens.
