Overview
The LiveAquaria® CCGC Star Aquacultured Coral Frag Pack (Various sp.), offers hobbyists a way to enhance their reef aquarium with a collection of premium coral frag specimens that will add visual interest and beauty. With easy care levels and peaceful temperaments, they are smart options for both beginner and advanced aquarists. All three corals display star shapes in vibrant colors and benefit from moderate to high lighting and a medium to strong waterflow.
Included in this premium pack are:
LiveAquaria® CCGC Purple Star Polyp Coral Frag
LiveAquaria® CCGC Pipe Organ Coral Frag
LiveAquaria® CCGC Red Sea Pom Pom Xenia Coral Frag
The LiveAquaria® CCGC Purple Star Polyp Coral frag (Briareum sp.) is an encrusting coral with a mass of purple polyps protruding from green centers resembling stars or flowers. When the heads of the corals retract, this coral just looks like a thick purple coating on the rock or surface it covers. A hardy coral with an easy care level and a peaceful temperament, it is ideal for beginner hobbyists.
The LiveAquaria® CCGC Pipe Organ Coral Frag (Tubipora musica) is a beautiful premium coral with a red skeleton and soothing green polyps that that look like stars when open. Mistaken for star corals, the Pipe Organ Coral does not have sweeper tentacles and has a tight, "well behaved" growth habit. They will not spread aggressively across the rocks or crowd neighboring corals. They make good tankmates with other peaceful corals. Avoid placing them in a strong, direct current which could displace or damage them.
LiveAquaria® CCGC Red Sea Pom Pom Xenia Coral Frag (Xenia sp.), comes in various colors, mostly gray, pink, tan, and white and has a very unique characteristic: it sways. This coral forms stalks that contain polyps with eight tentacles each. When the polyps open and close they resemble a pulsing or pumping hand, giving them the nickname Waving Hand Corals. It is unknown why these coral pulse, but may be caused when specific water, lighting and nutrient factors occur.
The ideal environment for these aquacultured coral frags is an established reef aquarium with coral friendly fish and invertebrates. Water temperatures should be maintained at 72°-78° F, pH levels of 8.1-8.4, a dKH level of between 8-12, and salinity within the range of 1.022-1.025. They require the addition of supplemental calcium, strontium, magnesium, iodine, and other trace elements to the water.
This frag pack ships from our LiveAquaria® Wisconsin Facility, home of our LiveAquaria® Certified Captive Grown Corals. They receive the highest level of care from our experienced and professional LiveAquaria® staff, who hand selects each coral. Aquacultured corals reduce the impact of natural collection, and because they are grown in captivity, are accustomed to a home aquarium.
The symbiotic algae zooxanthellae hosted within the coral’s bodies provide the majority of their nutritional requirements from the algae's light driven process of photosynthesis but will benefit from the addition of foods designed for corals and invertebrates.
The corals in this pack are mounted on small ceramic plugs that can be placed easily and securely in or between rockwork in the reef aquarium.
