Overview
Did you know that these specimen ship from our in-house coral farm and aquatics facility? What this means is that you can rest assured knowing they received the highest level of care from our experienced and professional staff. Plus, hobbyists who use our Professional Reef Salt have the added benefit of knowing that marine species shipped from our Wisconsin facility share the same water parameters. What this means is that they will acclimate and transition to your home aquarium with less stress, setting the foundation for long term success.
This 3 pack allows you to create a sensational soft coral set up full of texture, color, and movement with great ease and savings. Excellent for both novice and advanced reef aquarists, the Premium Maricultured Thick Finger Coral 3 Pack includes three fantastic finger corals at one great package price! They are sure to add active movement and color to your reef aquarium as they sway hypnotically in the water current.
Maricultured corals are propagated from small cuttings of corals growing in their natural habitat. The cuttings or fragments are then mounted to a base and allowed to grow out in protected in-shore areas for several months. Once they are ready for sale, they are shipped to the United States where they are conditioned and adjusted to artificial lighting and synthetic seawater prior to shipping to your door.
The corals included in the Premium Maricultured Thick Finger Coral 3 Pack have a semi-aggressive temperament so be sure to provide ample space between them and other corals, allowing for future growth in size. Sinularia corals can produce chemical compounds that can be detrimental to hard corals so care should be taken when introducing them into a mixed reef aquarium. Routine water changes and the use of chemical filter media is often recommended in systems housing these corals to help prevent buildup of these chemical compounds.
The corals included in this premium 3 pack can thrive under moderate to high lighting conditions achieved by T-5 fluorescent, powerful LED, or the more intense metal halide light fixtures. While not as demanding as Small Polyp Stony (SPS) corals, it is still imperative to maintain high water quality ensuring proper pH, alkalinity, and calcium levels while keeping phosphate and nitrate levels as close to zero as possible. Under ideal conditions these corals can grow rapidly, allowing dedicated or experienced reef hobbyists the ability to propagate fragments or broken pieces of these corals and grow them into new colonies.
Along with proper lighting and water quality, the corals in this pack will thrive when provided medium to strong, intermittent water flow within the aquarium. This can be easily achieved with the addition of powerheads, wavemakers, or water circulation pumps. For continued good health, they will also require the addition of iodine, strontium, and other trace elements to the water. These corals host symbiotic photosynthetic zooxanthellae algae that help satisfy a major portion of their nutritional requirements. However, they will benefit from supplemental weekly feedings of micro-plankton and other foods designed for filter-feeding invertebrates. This is especially helpful when housed in reef aquariums that do not contain fish.
The corals included in this pack are mounted to a natural rock-like plug that can be placed easily and securely in or between rockwork in the reef aquarium.
