Overview
Telanthera Plant (Alternanthera reineckii var 'roseafolia') adds a flash of flowing color to freshwater aquarium mid- or backgrounds, exhibiting rich reds, pinks and greens. Its wavy flat leaves move in the current and entrance the eye. A native to South American lakes, streams, and rivers, Telanthera Plant makes an ideal addition to South American community aquariums. Strong lighting is key to achieving the most vibrant coloration possible.
Provide a substrate that is fertilized with an iron-rich fertilizer. Regular pruning and thinning will keep it looking its best. Telanthera requires stable water conditions to prevent rotting of the stems and leaves. Provide at least 2 watts per gallon using full spectrum bulbs (5000-7000K). Water temperature should be between 72° and 82°F, with a dKH of 3-8 and a pH of 6 to 8.
