Overview

The Tear Drop Butterflyfish is a beautiful fish originating from the reefs of the Indo Pacific. They have a white base becoming yellow dorsally and on the median fins. It has a large black eyespot on its upper side and a black bar through the eyes. A black vertical stripe is also present at the posterior end. These are very colorful fish that are well suited for a larger fish only aquarium.

The Tear Drop Butterflyfish will do best in a 125 gallon or larger fish-only aquarium. The Tear Drop Butterflyfish is not recommended for the reef aquarium since it may nip at corals and eat different invertebrates.

Its diet should include both meaty foods and vegetable matter.

Customer Testimonials

Jay McKowski Torrance , CA
Tear drop butterflies are one of the most colorful and docile fish. Avoid adding the tear drop butterfly with tangs and other aggressive fishes as they will harass this shy fish. Since I had 2 tanks I transferred the tear drop to my second 100 gallon display tank. It has thrived with less agressive fish and loves to eat any type of fish food.
