Overview
This scorpionfish requires a 70 gallon or larger tank. It is not overly aggressive, but may eat smaller fish or invertebrates. Like other members of this family it will often shed its protective slime coating to rid its body of unwanted detritus, and to protect it against infections.
It is extremely difficult to breed in an aquarium, and has no distinguishing characteristics to help differentiate males from females.
When first introduced into the aquarium, live saltwater feeder shrimp should be used to entice this fish to eat. The diet of the Rhinopias Scorpion can include small fish and shrimp, and it will readily feed on ghost shrimp or feeder guppies.
