Overview

The Captive-Bred Barberi Clownfish is a vibrant and hardy addition to any saltwater aquarium. Featuring a reddish-orange body with a bright orange face and fins, this striking clownfish stands out as a unique species once mistaken for a color variant of the Cinnamon Clownfish (Amphiprion melanopus). Now recognized as its own species, Amphiprion barberi is known for its bold coloration and active personality, making it a favorite among marine aquarists.

Being captive-bred, the Barberi Clownfish offers several advantages over wild-caught specimens. It adapts more easily to aquarium life, tends to be hardier, and accepts a wider variety of prepared foods. Captive-bred fish also support sustainable aquarium practices by reducing pressure on natural reef populations and contributing to responsible marine life aquaculture.

This clownfish does best in aquariums of 30 gallons or larger with ample rockwork for hiding and establishing territory. It is semi-aggressive and may display territorial behavior toward other clownfish or similarly shaped species, so it is best kept singly or as a bonded pair. Though hosting an anemone is not required, the Captive-Bred Barberi Clownfish may naturally associate with species like the Bubble Tip Anemone (Entacmaea quadricolor) if present.

A varied diet that includes mysis shrimp, high-quality frozen preparations, and suitable marine flake foods will help ensure long-term health and vibrant coloration. Many aquarists have also reported success breeding this species in home aquariums, even without the presence of an anemone host.

With its brilliant color, lively nature, and captive-bred origin, the Captive-Bred Barberi Clownfish is an excellent choice for both beginner and experienced marine hobbyists seeking a beautiful and responsible addition to their reef or fish-only setup.

Hosted with anenomes within hours. Felt like I was watching a movie of how it was supposed to be. Ignored my Sixline Wrasse's attempt to be the bad guy and cruised the entire tank.
