Overview

Ease of care, abundant blossoms, alluring fragrance, and exceptional foliage. What more can you ask for from a tropical water lily? The Madame Ganna Walska Water Lily is a spectacular water lily sure to tantalize your senses with its exceptional beauty. The Madame Ganna Walska Water Lily produces an abundance of lovely lavender-pink flowers that can perfume your pond landscape with its exceptional fragrance. The Madame Ganna Walska Water Lily is a prolific bloomer delivering a fabulous floral display throughout the summer and into late autumn. Typical of tropical water lilies, the lovely star-shaped flowers of the Madame Ganna Walska Water Lily are held above water for a dramatic presentation. The Madame Ganna Walska Water Lily is a day-blooming tropical water lily great for most ponds, water gardens, and container water gardens.

Even when it's not in bloom, the Madame Ganna Walska Water Lily provides fantastic visual interest with its ornamental, saucer-like leaves or "pads." The color of the leaves will vary depending on its age but are typically dark green in coloration with a high degree of maroon mottling that resemble tiger stripes. Interestingly, the Josephine Water Lily is viviparous in nature, producing "baby" plantlets from the central nodule where the stem meets the pad. Typical of tropical water lilies, the Madame Ganna Walska Water Lily produces round leaves with textured edges that are slightly ruffled or even jagged. The leaf spread (or the amount of water surface area covered by the leaves) is high adaptable fitting comfortably in container water gardens and spreading approximately 5 to 6 ft when placed in larger ponds and water gardens to provide shade and shelter for your pond fish, as well as a potential spawning site for pondlife.

The Madame Ganna Walska Water Lily should be potted in a two-gallon or larger planting container. To help your newly potted water lily establish itself faster in your pond, place the water lily at an initial depth of six inches below the water surface. As the water lily grows, it can be gradually lowered to its ideal depth of 12-18 inches below the water surface. Place your Madame Ganna Walska Water Lily in a sunny location where it will receive up to six or more hours of direct sunlight. However, unlike many other tropical water lilies, the Madame Ganna Walska Water Lily can thrive in varying light conditions and will even bloom in partial shade conditions receiving up to four hour of direct sunlight. Zones 9-11.

LiveAquaria® offers two groups of Water Lilies: Tropical Water Lilies that thrive in plant hardiness zones 9-11 and Hardy Water Lilies that thrive in plant hardiness zones 4-11. Be sure to select water lily varieties the are hardy to your zone to enjoy long-lasting beauty.
