Overview

The gorgeous Scissortail Damselfish, scientifically Chromis atrilobata, are most known to most as a schooling damselfish species most commonly native to the reefs of the eastern Pacific, ranging across from the Gulf of California all the way down to Peru.
The Scissortail Damselfish is also known as the Scissortail Chromis, and gets its name from its signature forked tail. The Scissortail Damselfish feature a green/grey body with its characteristic forked tail being black, and unlike other damselfish species, the Scissortail is peaceful and not territorial.
Due to their easy care and hardinsess, these beautiful species make for excellent fish for beginner aquarists.
