Overview

LiveAquaria® is proud to offer hobbyists Captive-Bred Blueline Angelfish, also known as the Bluebanded Angelfish as part of our increasing selection of captive-bred, sustainably raised and cultured aquatic life to stock your aquarium. The Blueline Angelfish has been likened to a butterflyfish in body structure. As a juvenile this species can be recognized by its dark black body with iridescent blue horizontal stripes, along with a yellow bar that runs vertically behind the eye. The dorsal and anal fins are outlined in white and the caudal fin is bright yellow. As an adult a yellow to tan body with vibrant blue horizontal stripes identifies this fish.

The Captive-Bred Blueline Angelfish is a relatively shy species when first introduced but will adapt quickly to a well-established aquarium. Providing a quietly-located aquarium with non-aggressive tank mates and plenty of hiding places is ideal. A minimum of a 180-gallon tank or larger provided with live rock for grazing will also help provide an optimal environment. The Blueline Angelfish is prone to nip at stony and soft corals (sessile invertebrates) and clam mantles. It will also graze on microalgae, filamentous algae, and diatoms.

The diet should consist of mysis or finely shaved frozen shrimp, quality marine pellet food, clams on the half shell, and other meaty items, along with algae and sponge.

Approximate Purchase Size: Juvenile: Small 1" to 2"; Medium 2" to 3”

Customer Testimonials

John R Mendham , NJ
This captive-bred angelfish is must for all angelfish lovers. Mine is in a tank with much larger Angels and is fearless. I have never seen any aggressive behavior towards smaller wrasses, clowns or chromis. They will pick on most soft corals and clams. Mushrooms and Yuma are the only corals they haven’t killed in my tank. They are very fast and aggressive eaters and mine took food from my fingers the first week. They also appear to be slow growers, similar to the Regals. Mine are 1.5 years old and are only about 3.25” long.
