Addition of pond salt at recommended dosages helps boost your koi's natural defenses against disease, stress, and nitrite toxicity.
Drs. Foster and Smith Premium Pond Salt helps stimulate the production of slime coat, your pond fish's natural protective barrier against disease. Essential electrolytes support healthy gill function by reducing the risk of stress-induced osmotic shock and temporarily blocking the toxic effects of nitrite. When used as a short-term salt bath (saltwater dip), Drs. Foster and Smith Premium Pond Salt is beneficial to eradicate external parasites and fungal infections.
Suggested use: Ponds without plants: 2-1/2 cupfuls per 100 gallons. Ponds with plants: 1-1/4 cupfuls per 100 gallons.
Disease treatment: In separate container, 2-1/2 cupfuls in 10 U.S. gallons of pond water for 5 to 10 minutes.
Please note: Avoid direct contact with any plants. Use Drs. Foster and Smith Premium Pond Salt as directed. Pond salt will not evaporate, so the only time you need to add more is after water changes.
Application: Distribute Drs. Foster and Smith Premium Pond Salt evenly around the perimeter of the pond.
Ponds with Plants: Add 1-1/4 cupfuls of Drs. Foster and Smith Premium Pond Salt for each 100 US gallons of pond water.
Disease Treatment: Short-term salt baths are beneficial to eradicate many external parasite and fungal infections. In a plastic container, dissolve 2-1/2 cupfuls of Drs. Foster and Smith Premium Pond Salt in 10 US gallons of water. IF TAP WATER IS USED, ENSURE IT IS DECHLORINATED. Carefully place the affected fish in the salt bath for 5-10 minutes. Do not leave the fish in the salt bath for more than 10 minutes. Return the fish to the pond. Treatment may be repeated after 24 hours.
Important Notes: Once added to the pond, Drs. Foster and Smith Premium Pond Salt does not evaporate and is not filtered out. Drs. Foster and Smith Premium Pond Salt should only be added, as directed, with each water change. Salt levels higher than 0.01% may cause plant damage.
