Convenient bulk buffer helps experienced marine/reef aquarists maintain proper alkalinity and raise the pH of their aquarium water. Use Sodium Bicarbonate alone or in conjunction with Drs. Foster and Smith Sodium Carbonate. Just 1 tsp of Drs. Foster and Smith Sodium Bicarbonate per 45 gal of water raises aquarium water alkalinity by approximately 1 dKH. For use in marine/reef aquariums only. Please note: Always test alkalinity levels prior to use. Also, do not add Sodium Bicarbonate directly to your aquarium water.
Please note: Do not add Sodium Bicarbonate directly to your aquarium water. Always test alkalinity levels prior to use. Alkalinity levels found in natural seawater are between 7-12 dKH. Due to the sensitivity of marine organisms, it is not recommended to raise alkalinity by more than 1 dKH (0.36 meq/l) per 24 hours.
Dosage: Add 1 teaspoon (5 g) per 45 gallons to raise alkalinity by approximately 1 dKH. Dissolve appropriate amount in RO/DI water, then slowly add solution to a high-flow area, ideally into a sump. Monitor pH while dosing. Avoid immediate impact of pH change to more than +/- 0.2. Re-test and repeat dose until desired level is reached.
Note: Due to the variation of granular size, conversion between volume and weight of powdered products is approximate. As a precaution, dose less than the calculated amount and measure the effect before adding the total amount.
Caution: Avoid contact with eyes, skin, and clothing. Wash hands after handling.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place with lid tightly closed. Keep out of reach of children.
