Overview

The Stuber Acropora is a very fast growing and beautiful species. The main part of the coral is tan with blue/green hues. The growth tips of this species are bright blue in coloration, giving a wonderful contrast of color to the colony. The coralites on this coral are thin and more elongated. The name Stuber's Acropora is derived from a German aquarists last name who was the first person to successfully maintained Acropora in an aquarium in the 1980's. This strain apparently sprouted from a piece of live rock in Stuber's aquarium, so it has great lineage for the avid collector of Acropora.

The growth rate of the Stuber Acropora is very fast and adapts well to a variety of lighting conditions. It can also be cultured and grown into a new colony from living fragments or broken pieces, if conditions are ideal. The Stuber Acropora prefers intense lighting to maintain good coloration combined with a strong water current within the aquarium. For continued good health, it will require the addition of supplemental calcium, strontium, and other trace elements to the water.

They will thrive in a variety of lighting conditions, ranging from power compacts, VHO, T-5's up to the more intense metal halides. Alter their position in the aquarium depending on the lighting, and provide at least 3 watts per gallon using one of the lighting systems mentioned above.

It will also benefit from additional food fed weekly in the form of micro-plankton or foods designed for filter feeding invertebrates.

Stuber Acropora frags are mounted to an aragonite plug that can be affixed to live rock anywhere in the aquarium with gel super glue or epoxy.
